Molly 04:38
It all started out on an empty road along side a highway she made up her mind that things were gonna change and never be the same again Before long it took it's toll on everyone around her Stuck inside her life in a silent scream that no one ever noticed But she would not listen and she could not see the answers right in front of her laughing in her face they seemed another question Hey now, hello, this is only the beginning of all you need to know Hey Molly it's all right if you say so then we'll go Hey now, hello, this is only the beginning of all you need to know Hey Molly it's all right I'll go And I'll leave you there alone Once you come down and look around you will know what's going on look inside and you will find everything you left behind Feeling like you've lost your way and you've lost some faith again but I can't help you now... But you still won't listen and you still can't see the answers right in front of you always in your face they'll always seem a question Hey now, hello, this is the beginning of all you need to know Molly, it's all right, you said so, so we'll go Hey now, hello, this is only the beginning of all you need to know Molly, Molly, Sweet Molly, I'll leave you there alone I'll leave you there now walk away somehow starting right now

Reach Down 04:38
This stretch of road is longer than we had imagined we pass by people on the shoulder lost & tired The tail lights we had trailed behind they faded somewhere guided by what we hold inside Reach down and pick up all the pieces of our broken dreams Once, twice and still not tired forever moving closer to the place we should be The evening falls with an elegant grace that's mesmerizing We'll look up in hopes to see a falling star but the clouds have not broken All our paths lay clear coming into focus while our dreams lay near still we Reach down and pick up all the pieces of our broken dreams Once, twice and still not tired forever moving closer to the place we should be Holding on to everything we see don't worry, that is not what I need anymore..

I'm looking for better things things that I have not found in a place where I can speak freely and safety lies all around I'm looking for better things things hidden away by fright the longest night might hint to them but then they'll never seem right Oh, we'll spend this time together Only to be ripped apart Oh, we'll keep climbing that ladder Only to fall from the top I'm looking for better things things that will never break we'll borrow them from our fairy tales and hope that they're not fake I'm looking for better things all those things always one step ahead Maybe, just maybe they may come tomorrow So I'll wait for that instead Oh, we'll spend this time together Only to be ripped apart Oh, we'll keep climbing that ladder Only to fall from the top I'm looking for better things I'm looking for better things Still looking for better things We're all looking for better things

Passerby 03:43
At a loss for words once again feeling deja vu setting in chaging all the rules so I can't win watch them pass me by Holding on a thought from yesterday dayreaming more and more I may just have to change the games I play Still running on indecision still trying to find clearer vision I won't stop until I listen I won't stop holding out for sign to take the next step forward I might just catch my breath Holding steady don't walk away you might be just in time to steal this feeling from me Always thought that someone else would know a more effective way that I should go I wound up getting lost & my gas was low another passerby But things are getting clearer now it seems no longer chasing someone else's dreams I'm no longer chasing anything Still running on indecision still trying to find clearer vision I won't stop until I listen and keep burning down Holding out for sign to take the next step forward I might just catch my breath Holding steady don't walk away you might be just in time to steal this feeling from me I'm still running on indecision trying to find my clearer vision I have stopped and I am listening to myself I will find a new direction plow through all your indiscretion It sounds so sweet, I'm finally listening to myself

Streetlight shines off the wet street the storm is calm again but the light is still far off A lone car passes by with a lonely driver inside where, I cannot tell Until I can be what it is that you need me to be Until you can see what it is that's inside of me.. Undone Under the sign stands a person involved in nothing sightless & invisible And to my surprise something stirs inside it's not close enough it's never close enough Until I can be what it is that you need me to be Until you can see what this is that's inside of me.. Undone

Find My Way 04:40
I have a problem that I've been struggling through and I haven't even come up for air I have no problems admitting when I'm wrong but people need to keep me there I almost made the cut on the team that always won but I've never been the most desireable choice Out of that box I had shoved my life into & trying to reclaim my voice With you, you could help me find my way Things seemed so simple when we started out I don't know how things got here from there Lost and distracted always overwhelmed the roadmap gets fuzzy the longer I stare Taking deep breaths choosing every fight the smoke will start to clear in the end Follow the path while holding your hand feeling the wounds beginning to mend With you, you could help me find my way

It's happened too many times before that I can't recall the stupid things I've said right before the fall It seemed everything was all right until we slipped into the fight and I couldn't see anything at all It all faded from my reach I tried to learn but no one would teach me there's things inside that still burn there're things inside that are hard to turn away Sorries wear thin real fast and I don't blame you when all I wanted to do is last I cannot keep you I cannot keep you Inside my head it's growing clear too far now, it's too late now there's nothing now there's nothing now there's nothing left to fear It all faded from my reach I tried to learn but no one would teach me there's things inside that have opened doors there're things inside I've never seen before

about

"Rarely an artist comes along that combines raw emotion, masterful command of songwriting and an exceptional performance. James Kinne has reached that plateau on his first solo release, Between. Kinne composed, arranged and played all the instruments (save some backing vocals). That would spell doom for most musicians but Kinne's talent and experience shines through on well-crafted songs that reveal an intimate look into the heart and mind of this singer/songwriter. Acoustic-based with flavors of electric mixed in, the guitar is the driving force with tasteful drum complements reminiscent of Toad the Wet Sprocket yet less sorrowful/dark and more readily accessible.

The disc starts with an upbeat song that begs for driving, "Molly." "Better Things" is a look towards brighter tomorrows. "Passerby" also looks ahead and provides a mission statement - heading out on your own and creating what comes naturally for yourself. "Reaching Towards Dawn" combines a great vocal melody with some quick finger-picking acoustic work. A tad bit of reggae influence on "Find My Way" and the rocking "Reach Down" add more stylistic variety. The disc wraps with a stunning live performance of "Before" (puts all questions aside if he is as good live as he is on record) and a hidden track, "Angel Eyes," which is simply breathtaking and emotionally gripping. I've listened to over 200 CDs released in 2002, this is my favorite hands down."
